At the Smithsonian National Zoological Park in Washington DC, the arrival of warmer weather prompted a delightful scene as Asian elephants Spike, Trong Nhi, and Nhi Linh decided to beat the heat with a refreshing dip in their outdoor pool on April 23. With playful trunk sprays and synchronized plunges, the trio showcased their joyous embrace of the season, captivating onlookers with their spirited aquatic antics.
🤿🧴 Spike splashed a tree branch and made ripples on the water’s surface. Nhi Linh delighted visitors when she dunked herself underwater and used her trunk as a snorkel! After the pool party, they emerged and reapplied their “sunscreen” of sand and dirt.
